This type of saffron that called Bunch Saffron or Dokhtarpich, is the simplest of other types of saffron.
This type of Saffron is classified in the category of red & yellow saffron and biggest difference of this type with other types is longest red filaments and yellow filaments without any cut on filaments.
Generally, after removing the saffron filaments from the saffron flower, these filaments are separated with red and yellow parts and clustered together like a bunch.Sometimes the yarn wraps around a bunch.According yellow filaments in this type of saffron, we should not expect too much crocin ( Reason of Color ) from bunch saffron and this type has in less than average Crocin , Safranal and Picrocrocin in lab reports from others types of saffrons respectively these are reasons of the color, flavor and taste of the saffron.
The most common type of saffron purchase and sale by farmers is this type of saffron. And the reason for this can be considered the convenience of filling saffron (separating saffron strands from its petals) in this way.
This type of Saffron in the rating of the National Organization for Standardization and Standard 1-259, is called 4th grade of string saffron.
The coloring power of this type is between 120 and 150 units.
